The rotating drum screen "GRSI" type for micro-screening is installed in water intake from sea, rivers or lakes, to be used in drinking water treatment systems, irrigation and for production processes. The inlet is axial into the drum; the frontal surface of the screen is closed to impose to this flow to cross the cylindrical surface, composed of filtering elements, from outside to inside. The water flow becomes one again after the filtration and goes on along the axe of the drum, inside the screen, leaving it downstream. The screenings retained on the external side of the screen are pushed into an hopper by the washing water spraying from inside to outside of the drum.

The equipment is mainly composed of:

- a sturdy main frame drum shaped, stiffened by structural steel to form a radial pattern suitable to support the filtering elements and the cog rail for the rotation;
- a series of filtering elements bolted to the above mentioned structure and easily disassembled; each element is composed of a frame and a filtering panel made of square net or perforated sheet;
- a fixed supporting shaft of the frame;
- two sturdy supports installed on the drum, provided with self-lubricating brasses allowing the continuous operation inside or outside water, duly sized for the support of the drum during its rotation with respect to the fixed shaft;
- a gearmotor helical gear type complete for the rotation of the drum by means of a pinion engaging with the cog rail;
- a bar for filtering surface washing in counter current, from inside to outside, complete with nozzles high pressure type;
- a screenings and washing water collecting hopper;
- a system of sealing composed of gaskets installed on the rotating drum and a steel fixed part installed on the channel walls.
The protection against overloads is assured by dynamometric overload devices. The simplicity of construction and the completely automatic cleaning allow this screen to always guarantee high performances and reliability.
